Start with the character's gift preferences
The community Wiki’s Characters listing provides a few concrete starting points: Tanner lists Leather as liked; Molly lists Gold Bar as liked and Steel Bar as loved; Celeste lists Paper as liked. These are examples from character-specific lists, not a complete universal gift chart.
Check the exact item and recipient, give one item, then compare the recorded reaction in your Social menu before repeating a gift. Item variants and later balance changes may matter. Gift preferences do not by themselves establish marriage requirements.

Nine announced candidates, one spouse
Chris Cote's August 2026 replies describe nine romance options and one spouse per playthrough. Blorph is the only non-human option in that explanation. The source does not supply a complete proposal walkthrough.

Keep a useful gift record
Demo v0.11.17 introduced the Social menu for friendship and gift preferences. Gifts given before the update do not populate its history retroactively.
The update changed preferences and added bonus friendship for the first Neutral, Liked or Loved gift of a particular kind. An older gift list can therefore disagree with the updated game.
Use your visible Social record to track reactions. An empty historical record is not proof that a gift was never given.
Limits
We have not verified a complete gift table, marriage item recipe, divorce behavior or all relationship events. Friendship records alone do not establish proposal requirements. The developer's intention to add characters does not mean an expanded roster is already playable.
