Welcome to Elderfield Rain Gem: Spirits and Reloads

Understand Rain Gem spirits in Welcome to Elderfield, why difficulty changes defeat and reload outcomes, and the limits of a reported workaround.

Check your difficulty first

The developer says Rain Gem spirits appear randomly during rain in the main outdoor town areas. The encounter should clear when they defeat you or you defeat them—but difficulty changes the outcome.

Scope: September 1–2, 2026 pre-release discussion; checked September 15. Encounter spoilers; no release-build combat test.

Why dying is not a universal solution

Chris Cote explains that Hard and Nightmare require reloading after defeat. On the other settings described, you should return home and the spirits should stop appearing. Continued appearances after that home respawn would be a bug under his explanation.

Reloading is not the same as surviving a completed defeat event. Consider that distinction before intentionally losing.

A reported way to wait

The original player stayed indoors until sleeping was possible and reported getting past the situation at the cost of a day. This is one player's workaround, not a guaranteed fix.

If the behavior differs

Record difficulty, weather, location and whether you reloaded or respawned. The source gives no fixed spawn timer or validated required character stats.

Continue with the right next step

A defeat-and-reload loop is different from the application closing before opening. Use the launch troubleshooting checklist only for the latter. For broader progression, read what the Stone Tower task represents.
